Stadium access – Maracanã
GETTING TO THE GROUND
For Maracanã, take Metro Line 2 to 'Maracanã' station. For Nilton Santos (Engenhão), take the Supervia train from Central do Brasil to 'Olímpica de Engenho de Dentro'.
Warning: Avoid walking from Maracanã to the city center or surrounding neighborhoods at night. Stick to the Metro or pre-booked Uber services.
Maracanã away fans are typically in the South Stand (Setor Sul). Nilton Santos has dedicated away sectors in the higher tiers. Both use facial recognition for entry.

CRITICAL
Mandatory biometric (FACE ID) registration is required before matchday. ID (Passport) must be shown at the turnstiles. No large bags allowed.

Designated routes lead to the Supervia train platform (Engenhão) or the Metro Line 2 station (Maracanã).
Exit via the designated color-coded ramps directly to the metro or secure train station areas for away fans.

Galeão International (GIG) / Santos Dumont (SDU)
Transfer
GIG is the international hub (40 mins to center). SDU is for domestic flights (10 mins to center). Use 'Blue Bus' or Uber for transfers.
Tip
SDU is right in the heart of the city and offers spectacular views of the Sugarloaf Mountain on approach.

Ipanema and Copacabana are the safest and most popular areas for tourists. Lapa is famous for its arches and vibrant weekend nightlife.
