OPERATIONAL MAP

Stadium accessSan Mamés

GETTING TO THE GROUND

San Mamés has its own Metro station (Lines 1 & 2). It is also walkable from the city center (20 mins). Trams also stop right outside.

Warning: The stadium is very central. Streets around it (Calle Licenciado Poza) are packed with home fans.

Away fans are in the South-East Corner (Upper Tiers 321-323). Entrance via Gates 21-22. Capacity ~2,500 for Europe.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Bags larger than A4
  • Alcohol
  • Professional cameras
  • Megaphones

CRITICAL

High plexiglass screens may obstruct views. The 'catedral' atmosphere is loud. Strict no-alcohol policy.

Exit routes & evacuation

Direct access to the street, usually escorted to Metro or buses.

Exit via the same gates (21-22). Police will likely hold away fans for 20 mins post-match.

MISSION LOGISTICS

Hub

Bilbao Airport (BIO)

Transfer

Airport bus A3247 to Plaza Moyúa takes 20 mins (€3). Taxis cost €25-€30.

Tip

The airport design (Calatrava) is famous but check in early.

RECOMMENDED ZONE

Casco Viejo (Old Town) for traditional food, or the area near the Guggenheim for a modern vibe. Calle Licenciado Poza is the main pre-match street (mostly home fans).

RECOMMENDED

Casco Viejo offers good transport links and is generally safe for away supporters.

GATHERING POINT

CENTRAL MEETING POINT

Plaza Moyúa / Iparraguirre Kalea

For European games, fans often meet near Moyúa or the Guggenheim before being escorted or walking to the ground.

POLICE PROFILE

STRICT

Basque police (Ertzaintza) are very distinct in red/black uniforms. They are strict and use baton rounds for crowd control if needed. Stay calm.
